Microsoft is Releasing 7 .NET Exams.

News published at CertCities.com on May 31, 2006.

Microsoft released seven next-generation MCP exams for .NET certified experts. For MCAD or for upgrading from MSCD to MCPD, you need to pass four exams. Registration for the exams are opened at Pearson Vue and Prometric testing centers world wide.

Exam 70-551 UPGRADE: MCAD Skills to MCPD Web Developer by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework is expected to be released at the end of May 2006. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of Visual Studio 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0. Candidates should have minimum two years of working experience in Microsoft .NET Framework environment.

Exam 70-552 UPGRADE: MCAD Skills to MCPD Windows Developer by Using the Microsoft .Net Framework is expected to released at the end of May 2006. Candidates should have minimum two years of working experience in developing Microsoft Windows-based applications by using Microsoft .NET Framework environment.

Both the two exams, 70-553 (UPGRADE: MCSD .NET Skills to MCPD Enterprise Application Developer by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework Part 1) and 70-554 (UPGRADE: MCSD .NET Skills to MCPD Enterprise Application Developer by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework Part 2), are released for MCSD upgrades. These exams are required to achieve MCPD (Enterprise Applications Developer title). These exams are required to achieve MCPD: Enterprise Applications Developer title.

The other three exams are aimed at candidates taking the normal path to .NET certification:

70-547 PRO: Designing and Developing Web-based Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework.
70-548 PRO: Designing and Developing Windows-based Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework
70-549 PRO: Designing and Developing Enterprise Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework

Exam 70-547 provides credit towards the MCPD (Web Applications title); exam 70-548 counts toward MCPD (Windows Applications title). Candidates for those titles still need to pass two exams to obtain MCTS status prior to Microsoft issuing the MCPD designations. Exam 70-549 is one of the five exams needed to fulfill the MCPD (Enterprise Applications Developer title) using the traditional path.

The cost of each exam is $125 in the US.
